Saving Promise is inspired by founder L.Y. Marlow’s story of five generations of mother and daughters in her family who survived more than sixty years of domestic violence, including her granddaughter, a little girl named Promise.
“I was the third generation of women in my family to be trapped in the never-ending cycle of violence. Twenty-two years later, my daughter became the fourth when her boyfriend tried to kill her and threatened the life of their baby girl, Promise.
I decided right then and there, I would not let Promise be the fifth.
With a family history of five generations of mothers and daughters (my grandmother, my mother, myself, my daughter and my granddaughter) that suffered and survived more than sixty years of domestic violence, I have vowed to not only break the cycle of violence in my family, but to make a promise for change.”
